In early 1963, the then Senior Vice President of Flight Operations, Dick Petty, wrote to Bill Kennedy offering a suggestion that the retired pilots of United Airlines form a social organization to keep in contact with each other. At the first RUPA meeting in October, 1963, Bill Kennedy was elected President, Bill Williams, Vice President, and Harry Huking, Secretary- Treasurer.

Still in disbelief. But WOW. |
Our NYSkyscrapers luncheon group regularly contributes money to the Foundation.
I recently asked Ted Bochniarz, Treasurer of the Foundation, for a report on how many retirees they're currently supporting. Here's his report. Pete Sofman Hi Pete, You asked for info on what is going on with the Foundation. As of now there are seven (7) recipients. Their direct aid is $3800/month. The support we get from the active pilots is $975/month. The last donation from the active pilot group must be four or five years ago. The active contributors among the retiree group donate roughly, on the average, $800 to $1000/month. Ted |
